| Make use of Social Media |
| "Social Media" are increasingly being used not only in a purely social context, but also in a business context. If used wisely, they can become an extremely effective tool when job-hunting, as a means of making connections with individuals or businesses who may be able to direct you towards suitable opportunities. In a recent quote from Mike Ramer, speaking to Recruiter magazine: "It’s been said that LinkedIn is like going to the office, Facebook is like going home and Twitter is like going to the bar"! So, take your pick of which one you think might work for you!

Employment Agencies interviewed indicated that the overall number of vacancies they were handling, both permanent and temporary, had increased for the first time in 17 months. |

| "Social Capital" to secure your next job. |
| It is YOU who are your greatest asset, not your experience or your CV or your qualifications. Of course all these things are important, and you are judged by these in order to get an interview. However, consider that it is also your values, your thoughts, your opinions and your network that also makes you attractive.
The 20th century was focused on employment and ‘human capital’. Achieving education and experience to make you more attractive and valuable to a prospective employer. The 21st century is now seeing a new personal ‘capital’ emerge and that is your ‘social capital’. Penny Power, Ecademy.

| Thought for the day |
| I just came across this quotation, and it seemed somewhat pertinent to share it:
"It does not matter how slowly you go, so long as you do not stop" -
Confucius.
In difficult times it is those with real tenacity who will emerge victorious. |
